POSITION SUMMARY

Nonotuck Resource Associates, Inc. is seeking a Direct Care Professional in the Greenfield/Shelburne Falls, MA area who is interested in becoming a 7.5 hour per week direct care staff for a 38-year-old male.  Jon is autistic, and works on a farm in Hatfield, MA during the day.  Jon enjoys swimming at the Greenfield YMCA, and having a meal at local restaurants, and shopping locally. The Direct Care staff will be an additional support to Jon, providing support mostly in the late afternoon, and early evenings.  Transportation to and from Hatfield, Greenfield, and Shelburne Falls is required (mileage paid).

The Direct Care staff must be a patient, kind & caring person who can help with personal care. The duties of the Direct Care staff will include but not be limited to helping Jon by assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as hygiene and regular household routines, providing companionship and going out on community activities/outings. 

Responsibilities of the direct care staff include but are not limited to:

  • Identify and engage in person-specific community activities which may include recreation, social activities, or life skills training.
  • Provide companionship and supervision for person-served outside of their home.
  • Support people to stay safe by following person-specific plans.
  • Provides transportation to/from preferred activities.
  • Must be comfortable supporting person through challenging behavioral episodes and aiding with activities of daily living.

 REQUIRMENTS

  • Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and a reliable vehicle
  • Pass a Massachusetts and nationwide criminal background check (CORI and finger printing)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience working with adults with disabilities a plus
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care a plus
