Nonotuck Resource Associates is a state-wide agency that has provided Shared Living since 1972 to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities; as well as adults with acquired brain injuries and elders. Shared living is a 24-hour community-based residential service. We support and assist people who wish to remain living in the community and neighborhoods of their choosing.
Nonotuck Resource Associates is looking for an active, kind, patient, and well-balanced live-in caregiver in Franklin/Hampshire County to share a home and life with an adult with a disability in a state-funded model of care known as Shared Living.
Nonotuck is seeking a couple, family or single person with an involved social & support network who is interested moving into a young man’s home and sharing their lives together. The ideal candidate would be adventurous, have a love of outdoor activities including farming, hiking & landscaping, a laid-back personality that promotes a calming atmosphere and commitment to their own stress management and wellness.
Beyond providing care, the shared living provider will develop a meaningful relationship with this young man and his family. She/he will be a roommate and a friend, spending time together, sharing activities, and enjoying a lively and engaged life. We consider this to be a long-term commitment.
The duties of the shared living provider will include but not be limited to building on and maintaining independence by being able to assist in activities of daily living (ADLs) such as participation in regular household routines, providing companionship and going out on community activities/outings. Care Providers would be responsible for helping with grocery shopping, cooking, housekeeping, laundry, routine budget management, medication management, and medical appointments.
Shared living providers are offered a generous tax-exempt stipend, as well as free training, and ongoing clinical and nursing supports. This wonderful opportunity is open to single people (with outside supports), or a couple.
Providers must:
- Have a valid driver's license
- Have a suitable CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) and Fingerprinting check
- First Aid/CPR
- Knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Experience in the field of social services and caregiving
- Committed to living a healthy lifestyle
