Nonotuck Resources Associates (www.nonotuck.com) is a community-based agency that provides shared living to people with intellectual disabilities and acquired brain injuries. We support people who need assistance to remain living in the community. The individual and shared living provider share a home; the shared living provider must have an extra bedroom.
We are currently searching for a kind, patient, and natural teacher for a man with an intellectual disability in the Hampshire area. The position is for a provider who enjoys the same kinds of activities and who will be a “bridge builder” for this gentleman; supporting his current preferences and assisting him in exploring new endeavors: Planning activities, including the activity and the support getting to and from and during the activity. You will work together to develop a rhythm to your intermingled life that works for you both. getting to and from and supporting his relationships with others.
Additional roles include the ability to provide supervision and oversight with daily routines, general health maintenance around attending medical appointments and medication oversight, and community integration. We are looking for a caregiver who has a good sense of humor, practices patience, is kind, and is non-judgmental. The ideal caregiver is someone who can be consistent, supportive, and help maintain relationships.
To qualify for this position, all applicants must be at least 18 years old, have a valid driver's license, own a car, and pass the CORI. Experience working with people with disabilities and with people in the mental health field would be helpful. The right provider for this position will to move into the individual’s current apartment. Note, this is an apartment with a studio attached to reside in, so only one person would be able to move in.
Nonotuck Resource Associates provides a generous monthly stipend, relevant trainings, monthly visits and ongoing support by a Case Manager, as well as clinical supports.
